Training
employs
two full time training personnel led by the manager, John
Finlay.
The training of personnel
at FSG consists of three basic stages:
1.
Induction training – Completed at the nearest of the
accredited training centres for the recruitment: Every
location is fully equipped, accredited and able to deliver
the highest standard of training and expertise.
There are NO short cuts.
The courses are completed fully and no one evades the total
requirements of the SIA Regulations.
2. On-site training – Not what is considered the norm
within the industry, because we understand the real
importance of securing the confidence of the customer, and
that is acquired by more than placing bodies on a site to
make up numbers. We ensure that the customer is satisfied,
that new personnel are properly equipped and trained to deal
with the assignment, and only fully trained staff are placed
on site without supervision.

John Finlay
Group Training Manager We monitor the on-going site training via the Quality
Inspector, the Regional Contract Manager and via the
assistance of the National Control Centre. Simple but very
effective monitoring tests secure the confidence of the
staff, exposes any minor or additional training requirement
and ensures that it is effected promptly.
On-site training is a matter of managing change too. Procedures, systems and geographic layouts may change
rarely, or often, but they have to be accommodated and
catered for within the assignment instructions and via the
personnel on the security team, the ‘floater team’ and the
Quality Inspector. Therefore, on-going is a realistic term
that is not an option if consistent, professional standards
are to be maintained.
3.
In addition to the basic training carried out when the
recruit joins the company, we offer all employees the
opportunity to take part in a Distance Learning Programme (DLP).
The Professional Guard and Advanced Guard Programme,
reflects the improved standards and training requirements
within the security industry.
We have specifically trained Quality Inspectors able to
deliver the Customer Quality Care, IT, and Search
programmes, either on a customer site or within the Training
Centres.
The Personnel department, managed by the Group HR manager,
Bob Mudie, is extremely proactive in its emphasis upon
extended training for every tier of management, for new and
long-term employees.
