FSG Clean Water Project
FSG Security Plc held a charity event on Friday 14th
Nov at the Stage Hotel Leicester in aid of the clean water
project for creating bore holes in the foothills of Uganda.
A significant task, as this region lies on gneiss rock, an
extremely difficult rock strata to penetrate for the purpose
of acquiring water for the people in this region, where 22
villages are located with barely 4 water holes between them.
Each borehole costs £5,000, and as a result of the charity
event, FSG raised over £10,000. The great news is, is
that this sum is being matched pound for pound by Rotary
International, thereby providing funds for 4 water holes, an
amazing feat! The function, a dinner and dance with
entertainment, was supported by the sale of raffle tickets
and an auction, hosted by the infamous Joe Egan, an Irish
boxing champ who was Mike Tyson’s sparring partner for 2
years.
Frazer Tranter, an ex World’s strongest man, drew the raffle
prizes and the entire event was a huge success.
FSG plan to
repeat this event in 2009, bigger and better, and with the
support of Rotary International we can help to increase the
awareness and importance that water plays in the lives of
millions who cannot just turn on a tap.
